17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World

"ELEGANCE" was taken in Uda city, Nara, Japan on April 15, 2017. The big weeping cherry tree commonly called "Matabei Sakura" is estimated to be over 300 years old. Japanese people have been healed by the moment's beauty of Matabei Sakura in spring since a very long time ago. The language of a weeping cherry tree is elegance in Japan.
