ELEPHANT CROSSING - WHOSE ROAD IS IT ANYWAY?

On a morning drive at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Movember 2020, no sooner had we entered the gate we noticed movement in the bushes and soon this mother elephant and her calf silently appeared in the clearing. They were evidently interested in crossing the road but the movement of heavy trucks was blocking their way. The calf looked a bit agitated. Eventually, when the last of the trucks went part, the pachyderms crossed over to the other side. The question in my mind remained - whose road is it anyway?
