Eleven-armed sea star
The eleven-armed sea star suffers from an identity crisis. This native species is an integral part of the ecosystem, but is often mistaken for the crown of thorns which has invaded the Great Barrier Reef. People take it from the water and leave it to die thinking they are doing the right thing.
