Elk Herd during rut

On our way to Yellowstone National Park just outside of Gardiner, Montana I spotted a large herd of elk just across the Yellowstone River; more elk than I had ever seen at one time. We pulled off the road and I spotted the bull elk in the center of the herd. This herd was too far for me to hear the bugling, but I did hear the male elk bugle once in Yellowstone.
