16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Embera- Wounaan Fabrics

I took this story when in the Darien, Panama visiting indigenous group, the Embera- Wounaan. Hanging out to dry next to their stilted home, these fabrics are worn as skirts by the women of the tribe.
