I work up early this fall. Very dark outside I walked to Emerald Lake from my campsite. I noticed a dark, rather large animal in the water and I knew what it was. It was pouring rain. I stayed in the pouring rain for 2 hours watching this big guy eat and follow around a cow. He smelled her at this point. He was screaming for her and putting his nose into the air as he gathered more scent.
