Entranced woman. Palani, 2020.

Thaipusam is a religious festival celebrated on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (January/February) to commemorate Lord Murugan on his act of receiving a Vel "spear" to vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman. Chanting and drumming fill the air as thousands of devotees form large, noisy processions. In this image, an entranced woman is helped advance through the crowd.
