Episode 8 : Mme Pulane, Mme Sithole & Nkgono Tina's Envisioned Self. (Ft. Aphiwe)

The image is part of a series where I depict the idea of “The Envisioned Self” by Steve Biko, which is a “free self” but how does a free self look? How does one attain their Envisioned Self? How does one who has attained their Envisioned Self look? I became interested in using individuals with stereotypical black features as my subjects to depict this idea of the "Envisioned Self" and with this image I am referencing South African culture as the subjects perform a cultural act of speaking to ''Badimo'' (ancestors) to seek wisdom from them and the youthful subject in the middle is not only seeking advice from her elders as to how she can attain her ''Envisioned Self'' but she also seeks wisdom from her ancestors.
