This image was captured at a front-line near Kirkuk. Scanning over the sandbag fortification, I was joined by a young Peshmerga fighter. The young fighter had to have been around 18 or so. He reached down to pick some expended rounds. The area was host to several intense battles some months prior, and harassing attacks were common. ISIS positions were some 2-3 kilometers away. This was before the Mosul offensive some months later.
