23rd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Wildlife
Explosion!
As if shout of a cannon, an adult cheetah explodes from being completely submerged while crossing a channel in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. Cheetah are the most water-adverse of the big cats and she reminded me of an Olympic butterfly swimmer in full stroke.
