Extinct frog in its natural environment
A specimen of the extinct frog Holoaden bradei, last seen in the wild in 1978, sits in what was once its natural habitat (Parque Nacional do Itatiaia; Brazil's first national park, State of Rio de Janeiro/Minas Gerais, Brazil). The culprit: a fungal pathogen that has decimated amphibian populations globally.
