Extreme conditions

A lady carrying bricks at a daily wage job at a brick kiln near Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Brick kilns engage daily wage labourers to work in extremely difficult conditions. The work happens mostly in the peak of summer in India where temperatures at the brick-making ovens are maintained at 900-1100 degree celsius. Heavy piles of bricks are carried by women and often even children who do not have the privilege of going to schools due to the meagre earnings of the family from the job. Workers mostly comprise of migrant labourers from nearby states who work in these inhuman conditions for a meagre compensation of 50paise per brick (around 0.007$)
