17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Eyes of Darkness

This was one of the most spine chilling experiences that I've had with wildlife. It was a winter afternoon; we drove into the woods in central Indian, and we soon reached a point in the jungle. Langurs were calling intensely – a predator was around. After checking throughly, we found this male tiger staring at us from beside the bushes. It was chilling to see directly into a tigers eyes.
