Falling Angel

A generation ago, Angel Glacier appeared to be the massive, unchanging figure of an angel standing in the valley, its wings spread wide. In the span of our lifetime, the changing climate has disfigured the angel, melting its body and leaving only remnants of wings. Three weeks after this photo was taken, a massive wildfire devastated the entire area as if to remind us that due a warming climate, the Angel’s days are numbered.
