Fanny
Fanny in a classroom at the school in Nkhata Bay where she teaches English. To her left, the school's principal, Nkhata Bay, Malawi, 2019. Fanny has albinism, a congenital disorder characterised by the complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin, hair and eyes. Albinism is highly stigmatised in Malawi, and there has been a wave of human rights abuses against people who have the condition. A lack of funds and legal support means that most cases of crimes against people with albinism never make it to court.
