21st Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Travel
Far From Home

Gipsy families in Bangladesh often use wild animals for their daily earnings. These families roam around and try to earn their livelihood in many ways. Using wild animals like monkeys, snakes, elephants, and parrots to make money is a tradition for them. In the photograph, the monkey named Mousumi was trapped by its master 22 years ago. I felt its eagerness to return to its green home instead of living in a wooden box.
