the photo shows the inside of a Cuban pharmacy. The poverty of raw materials and the embargo create major problems in supplying medicines to Cubans. Pharmacies are often an expanse of empty shelves or, as in this case, containing jars of natural herbs. The customer in black had just requested an active ingredient and the pharmacist went to the back to physically do it as if she were a chemist
