18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Feeding Hour

Classified as Critically Endagered, and almost exclusively endemic to the central and eastern regions of Madagascar, Diademed Sifakas can be extremely hard to spit and photograph. Primates being one of my major areas of interest in photography, my week long trip to central Madagascar’s Andasibe almost exclusively revolved around shooting two specific species of lemurs-one of which was the Diademed Sifaka. I wanted to capture the Diademed Sifaka in its natural habitat and at eye level.
