Female Common Merganser Swimming in Guemes Channel
This is a female Common Merganser swimming in Guemes Channel near Anacortes, Washington. This species of duck is known as a "sawbill" due to its thin, serrated bill used for catching fish. I took this photo during one of my frequent birdwatching/photography trips around Fidalgo Island near my home in Anacortes, Washington.
