This female ruby-throat was resting after a nectar harvest. Suddenly, she jolted up, squeaking surprisingly loudly and angrily, intersecting a second female who was encroaching upon her territory. After the initial chase, F2 stayed low, stealing nectar from the flowers below. Periodically, she’d be spotted and chased, and would hide low. Finally, after three rounds, F1 returned to rest, victorious (for now) in defending her food cache.
