Festival of Light

Hindu devotees sit with Prodip (lights) and pray to God for the welfare of family in front of Shri Shri Lokanath Brahmachari Ashram temple, Swamibag, Dhaka during the Kartik Brati or Rakher Upobash, a religious Hindu fasting festival organized annually at the last half of the Bengali month Kartik. Devotees sit with food and candles and pray in earnest to the God before breaking the fast. Lokenath Brahmachari who is called Baba Lokenath was an 18th Century Hindu saint and philosopher in Bengal. Lokenath Brahmachari devotees pray with light to save their family and dear from cholera and pox disease.
