Fort Ticonderoga offers daily demonstrations of cannons being loaded and fired. In March of 1776 the guns were hauled under the leadership of Continental Army Colonel Henry Knox to Boston to provide the American army critically needed artillery to defend the city, thus forcing the British to evacuate.
