First Flight

A father at my school gave us a chrysalis so the children could watch the beginning of a butterfly's life. After the butterfly hatched, it could not yet fly, and so it stayed with me (on my hand) at my desk as I worked. It would perch itself on my finger as I typed. From time to time, it would attempt to fly....only to crash into a wall and return to me. Finally, we were able to release it into the wild! It was such an amazing experience for me, to be so close to this amazing creation.
