19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
First Flight
While my husband and I were away on vacation, a robin built a nest in our open umbrella. We watched the eggs hatch and the fledglings emerge. We were lucky enough to witness when this young bird prepared to leave its nest for the first time.
