Flammulated Owl peers from nest

This tiny raptor, a flammulated owlet, is preparing to leave its nest (fledge) for the first time. Moments later he would gently glide to the ground and begin the process of strengthening his wings and learning the skills associated with flying. Within two months he will begin his migration south to Mexico.
