While walking on the streets of Mardin, I remember this breathtaking Mesopotamian view like it was yesterday. It had such a different and diverse mosaic that I felt like I had discovered a whole new geography. I was fascinated by the fact that different beliefs and languages, intertwined and preserved through the ages, lived in such harmony. It was as if thousands of different pieces had come together and a single portrait, as Mardin, was shining before me.
