Flicker in a Tree

This female northern flicker (Colaptes auratus) had engineered itself a home out of a tree trunk. High above the ground, the cavity was well camouflaged amongst the other knots on the tree, but I heard a shrill call and managed to capture a few frames as it briefly peered out.
