12th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Flight of the Phoenix
My family is full of artists. My sister made this dress and my mother, the headpiece. They made them especially for my daughter, and named the collective set The Phoenix. Complete with the feathered "wings", I felt she needed to rise from the ashes. Hence the burning embers at her feet.
