Flint Hills Pine Bend Oil Refinery in Rosemount, Minnesota. We were driving back from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in February 2020. It was the early evening. The sky was totally covered in clouds, so it was already rather dark; it was very cold outside, below 0°F. We saw the refinery shrouded in steam. It made me think of the black and white photos of the polluting effect of the fossil fuel burning factories of Charles Dickens’ London.
