Food Fight - There is a Great Egret Rookery in Napa with several nests. During mating season there are often multiple siblings in each nest which interact with each other and compete for food brought to the nest by the parents. This shot captures two siblings in a “every chick for itself” fight over food dropped by their parent. Frequently, only the stronger chick survives over the long run of the raising stage.
