Carolyn Lasar is the Food Recovery Project Manager for San Francisco's Wholesale Produce Market, which supplies the city's markets and restaurants. Several times a week she visits the SF Market's two dozen fruit and vegetable vendors in search of wholesome unsold inventory that can be donated to charitable organizations to feed people in need. Thanks to the efforts of Carolyn and the produce merchants, millions of pounds of healthy, edible excess produce have been diverted from the waste stream to dinner tables across the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
