Forgotten America: Defying Neglect-Badlands Schoolhouse

We hurl towards our future without the care an understanding of where we came from. I’ve always been drawn to the past, the foundation we’ve built, settling the “new world” and dismayed by our rush to move forward and many times neglecting the foundation we’ve built in chasing progress. My work attempts to capture the remaining spirit in these forgotten structures and landscapes, as our society is drawn to the allures of the city, leaving the spirit of community behind to slowly decay with the settlements we have abandoned. This schoolhouse appears to still believe it serves a purpose; waiting for the return of the children it once housed.
