19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Fortitude

After Natasha lost her leg a few years ago, her life has changed dramatically. She didn't panic, didn't throw in a towel. On the contrary, her life became very busy with workouts, competitions and arts - swimming pool, table tennis, singing lessons. Natasha dreams of helping people with the same problems. She inspires other people with her fortitude and thirst for spiritual growth. Recently, she got the first place in the Kaluga Region swimming championship among people with disabilities. I made a project about Natasha. One of the pages of her story is set at the pool. I spent an hour filming Natasha's training with an underwater camera.
