Fountain is an attorney in Charlotte, North Carolina and is a long time member of the Outer Banks Beekeepers Guild. He has been beekeeping for over forty years and with the help from his brother, he manages around twenty five beehives. Fountain has played a significant role in the North Carolina State Beekeeping Association and is also a member of The American Apitherapy Society.
