20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Four baby Screech Owls peeking out of a hole.
I was photographing three baby Screech Owls in a tree when suddenly a fourth baby popped his head out. A couple of hours after I took this picture, the babies fledged the nest.
