Fractures in Ice
Beneath the Vatnajokull glacier in Iceland lies frozen tunnels bored out by the sun and the wind in the summer. Freezing in the winter, the inside of these tunnels shows the channels of volcanic ash deposited over the course of eons that are packed into the ice, and fractures in the glacier that show it is still a moving and flowing structure.
