19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Frankenstein Lake
This photo shows Malibou Lake from the spot where the famous drowning scene in the 1931 James Whale classic Frankenstein took place. Having recently learned that this was the among the only scenes in the film to be shot outside Universal Studios, I was excited to get to the lake and see it for myself. The black-and-white infrared gives the photo a vintage feel and foreboding atmosphere.
