17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Free yet Bounded

The picture shows a flamingo in a bird park. Even though the flamingos have quite a lot of place to move around, it still has a ring around one of its legs which shows that it is bounded by the walls of the bird park. Even though the flamingos are not put in cages like other birds, they have no freedom to explore natural habitats.
