The picture is showing the Freedom Tower shining through glass roof elements of the Oculus station building at Ground Zero in Manhattan. For me this photo, which I shot on my 37th birthday has a very special meaning. When I was just 6 years old I visited the United States for the first time with my family. During that trip we also went on top of one of the Twin Towers. When I was in Manhattan for an internship in 2009 I returned to the site and visited Ground Zero. I still remember police men standing there reminding some laughing kids to be quiet and show their respects for the lives lost on September 11th. Now being back in August 2017, seeing the enormous Oculus rising right at that same place and watching the hustle and bustle in- and outside the building really touched me very much.
