This photo is of Cuban-African American photographer and activist, Emerald Arguelles. She's one of my closest friends. We were working on a women's empowerment project together about menstruation when I noticed this powerful tattoo on her leg. Arguelles holds her Cuban roots close and dear to her, never forgetting her heritage.
