Frutta Martorana (marzipan fruit) Noto, Sicily
I was in the pastry shop, Caffe Sicilia in Noto, Sicily. I had worked there as an apprentice and was back visiting. In the kitchen there was a rack of "Frutta Martorana" which seemed real. This traditional handmade marzipan fruit was first made in the 1200's at a convent in Palermo.
