Galapagos giant tortoise

The giant tortoise is one of the most iconic animals of the Galapagos archipelago. In fact, the islands themselves were named after these turtles and despite centuries-long exploitation, you can easily encounter them in the wild these days, thanks to successful conservation efforts.
