I was traveling through Galena after a quick stop at the Washburne House and stumbled upon St. Michael's Cemetery during golden hour. As I drove by I saw the gates had been rusted open into a perfect frame of a historic grave in the distance. I knew I had to stop to capture some photos and thought to myself this would be my entry for this year's Smithsonian Photo Contest.. and here it is.
