Gamboa community in Salvador, Brazil
Salvador is the capital of the Brazilian State of Bahia. The city was one of the first slave ports in the Americas and the African influence of the slaves' descendants makes it a center of Afro-Brazilian culture. In 1962, the construction of Lafayete Coutinho Avenue drew in more defined tones the boundaries between rich and poor zones. Over the avenue it is where people from the Upper City Center live, under it, the riverside dwellers, the Gamboa de Baixo. Gamboa de Baixo is a community in Salvador, where the residents have a permanent view of the sea. In Gamboa, there is a bar called "Bar da Mônica", which in addition to delicious food has a pier with infinite views of All Saints Bay.
