Ganga–Jamuni Tehzeeb (Hindustani for Ganges–Yamuna Culture), is the culture of the central plains of northern India, especially the Doab region of Ganges and Yamuna rivers, that is a syncretic fusion of Hindu cultural elements with Muslim religious elements. Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb compares the Hindu-Muslim harmony and friendship to the holy confluence of India's major rivers - the Ganges and Yamuna. It assumes a peaceful merging of Hindu and Muslim culture and lifestyle in India as expressed in their friendships, joint festivities and interdependence, and reminds people of the incomparable unison they share across religious communities. The image was clicked at ALLAHABAD (PRAYAGRAJ), UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA at the HOLY CONFLUENCE OF THE TWO RIVERS GANGES AND YAMUNA, with the ALLAHABAD FORT (built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1583) on the right and the Yamuna Rail and Road bridges at the distant background, thus providing the very essence of the city of ALLAHABAD, and the METAPHORICAL EXPRESSION of Ganga-Jamuni Tahzeeb culture. Allahabad (Prayagraj) is thus considered a HOLY CITY - a place for PILGRIMAGE.
