Geminid Meteors and Star Trails

I shot the Geminid meteor shower with a custom panoramic system aimed straight up, with the long axis aligned from the celestial North pole (center of concentric star trails at left) toward south. The meteor streaks punctuating the gentle curves of the star trails convey the varying time scales of the effects that govern our solar system. The meteors emanate from a single point in Gemini, but that point rose and set, randomizing the angles of the “shooting stars” against the trails of the actual stars.
