This is a Gentoo penguin rookery on Cuverville Island in Antarctica. Many birds were still sitting on eggs as this one was, waiting for them to hatch, while others had already given birth and were caring for the chicks. We were told by the ornithologist on the cruise ship I was on that triplets were rare.
