Geometry of Soviet Aesthetics
This photograph was taken inside a metro station in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, showcasing a striking example of Soviet-era architectural aesthetics. The geometric ceiling design, symmetrical composition and interplay of light and shadow reflect the ideological pursuit of order, monumentality and futuristic vision embedded in Soviet modernism. I was drawn to the precision of the structure and the way ambient light enhanced the rhythm of the repeating forms. Rather than focusing on movement or people, I chose to highlight the architectural essence itself—capturing a quiet moment that reveals the station as a functional yet deeply aesthetic space.
