Ghanaian-American juxtaposes my American upbringing with my Ghanaian heritage. The subject wears the American flag as a durag, which represents my experience growing up as a black male in America. The ankara backdrop represents the consistent role that Ghanaian culture has played in my life. Ghanaian-American challenges the notion of duality: does one culture take precedence over the other or can they co-exist?
