Varanasi is a city on the banks of the Ganges in Uttar Pradesh. Ghats are embankments made in steps of stone slabs along the river bank where pilgrims perform ritual ablutions. The Ganges is a sacred river to Hindus along every fragment of its length. Indian Hindus are seen taking bath in early morning in the Ganges River.
